On Wednesday, January 7, 2026, the Deputy Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Hon. Wanu Hafidh Ameir, paid an official visit to the Moshi Co-operative University (MoCU) Main Campus in Moshi.
During the visit, the Deputy Minister toured several key infrastructure projects, including the new library under construction, the lecture halls complex, and the ICT Academic Building, all being implemented through funding from the Higher Education for Economic Transformation (HEET) Project.
While meeting with the University leadership and other officials, Hon. Wanu commended MoCU for its efforts in reviewing existing curricula and developing new academic programmes that respond to labour market demands and the needs of the co-operative sector. She further encouraged the University to continue strengthening co-operative education and awareness among stakeholders to promote a positive perception of co-operatives in society.
“This visit has enabled me to understand co-operatives from a different perspective. I will leave MoCU viewing co-operatives as a vital pillar for social and economic development,” she emphasized.
Hon. Wanu also expressed satisfaction with the pace of HEET project implementation at both the MoCU Main Campus and the Kizumbi Institute of Co-operative and Business Education (KICoB) in Shinyanga Region. She reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to continuously supporting higher learning institutions by improving policies, infrastructure, and human resources, with the aim of creating a conducive teaching and learning environment and producing graduates equipped with appropriate knowledge, skills, and ethical values.
