MoCU Supports Formation and Capacity Building of Women’s Co-operatives in Simanjiro District

Description:
On Thursday, March 26, 2026 Moshi Co-operative University (MoCU), in collaboration with Norges Vel Tanzania through the REGCOOP Project, has continued to strengthen women’s co-operative development in Simanjiro District by facilitating leadership elections and delivering training on business management and governance to four newly established co-operative societies.

The participating societies—Enaboishu, Osiligi, Odonyo Napi Irkujit, and Nasaru—are multipurpose co-operatives established in the villages of Irkujit, Langai, Narakauo, and Loiborsiret. Each society successfully elected its board members, including the Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, and Secretary.

Following the elections, members and leaders were equipped with essential knowledge on co-operative principles, members’ rights and responsibilities, governance structures, leadership roles, conduct of general meetings, warehouse receipt systems, and value addition of agricultural produce and products.

The exercise, which commenced on 23 March and is expected to conclude on 28 March, is being implemented in collaboration with the Assistant Registrar of Co-operatives for Manyara Region and the Simanjiro District Co-operative Officer.

This initiative reflects MoCU’s continued commitment to empowering communities through co-operative development, capacity building, and promotion of sustainable economic growth.
