MoCU Vice Chancellor Welcomes First-Year Students to the University Community

On November 21, 2025, the Vice Chancellor of Moshi Co-operative University (MoCU), Prof. Alfred Sife, met with first-year students as part of his tradition of welcoming them into the MoCU community and marking the beginning of the new academic year.

The gathering took place at the Ushirika Sports Grounds, Main Campus Moshi, and was attended by the Students’ Government (MoCUSO), various University officials including Heads of Departments, Directors, Deans of Faculties, and the Deputy Vice Chancellors.

Also present were key stakeholders who partner with MoCU in ensuring student welfare, including representatives from the Tanzania Police Force (Community Policing Unit), the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF), and the Higher Education Students’ Loans Board (HESLB).

In his address, Prof. Sife emphasized the importance of students understanding the University, upholding its reputation wherever they go, and adhering to the laws, rules, regulations, and guidelines governing the institution. He further encouraged students to study diligently, collaborate with one another, and remain focused on their academic goals.

He also cautioned them to avoid behaviors that may lead to disciplinary or legal challenges, including drug abuse, theft, misuse of social media, and destruction of property.

This annual engagement underscores MoCU’s commitment to fostering a supportive, disciplined, and academically driven environment for all students.
