Welcome to the Department of Extension and Outreach of the Moshi Co-operative University (MoCU). The department is under the Institute of Continuing Co-operative Education (ICCE) responsible for coordinating the training, advisory services, consultancy and action-oriented research on socio-economic empowerment to cooperatives and other member-based organizations. Its history is traced back to 1964 when the Government of Tanzania, through the Co-operative Union of Tanganyika (CUT) in collaboration with the Nordic Co-operative Consortium, established the Co-operative Education Centre (CEC) to cater for co-operative education in the Tanzania mainland. To effectively provide cooperative education to grassroot cooperatives, community-based organisations and stakeholders, the Centre established Wings in different zones as an outreach arm. Later, the Wings were transformed into MoCU regional offices. Currently the Department coordinates Co-operative Entrepreneurship and Innovation (CEIU) and Coffee Quality and Trade Certificate Programme. It also coordinates provision of outreach and community services including short/tailor made trainings, advisory services, consultancy and action-oriented research on socio-economic empowerment to cooperatives and other member-based organizations at MoCU head office and through 13 regional offices which serve all regions of Tanzania Mainland and Island. It is staffed with experienced professionals of various disciplines (accountant, finance, economics, cooperatives, entrepreneurship/business, marketing, community development, procurement, taxation, Information Communication Technology and Laws).
