On Wednesday, May 06, 2026 Moshi Co-operative University (MoCU), through the REGCOOP Project funded by NORAD via Norges Vel Tanzania, is conducting an in-depth study on the Business Maturity of Agricultural Co-operatives in the districts of Babati, Mbulu, and Simanjiro in the Manyara Region.
The research aims to assess the operational performance of agricultural co-operatives, identify existing challenges, and enhance institutional efficiency in order to develop model co-operative societies capable of driving socio-economic transformation and sustainable development.
The MoCU research team is led by Dr. Esther Towo as Coordinator, assisted by Dr. Alphonce Mbuya as Assistant Coordinator, alongside Prof. Gervas Machimu, Dr. Christian Malamsha, and Dr. Emmanuel Lulandala.
The initiative represents an important step towards strengthening co-operative societies to become more productive, resilient, and sustainable contributors to economic and social development.
