On Friday, May 08, 2026 The Simanjiro District Commissioner, Hon. Mwl. Fakii Lulandala, officiated the awarding of registration certificates to four newly established women’s co-operative societies in Simanjiro District: Enaboishu, Nasaru, Edonyo Napi Irkujit, and Osiligi.
The exercise forms part of the REGCOOP Project implemented by Moshi Co-operative University (MoCU) under the support and coordination of Norges Vel Tanzania.
The establishment of these co-operative societies aims to economically empower members and contribute to broader community development within the district.
The certificate awarding ceremony was attended by various stakeholders, including the Deputy Vice Chancellor – Academic, Research and Consultancy, Prof. John Safari; the REGCOOP Project Team led by Dr. Esther Towo; the Simanjiro District Administrative Secretary; the Executive Director of Simanjiro District Council; and the Assistant Registrar for Co-operatives in Manyara Region.
Other participants included leaders from the Rift Valley Co-operative Union (RIVACU), District Co-operative Officers, heads of departments from the Simanjiro District Council, village leaders and executive officers, as well as leaders and members of the newly registered co-operative societies.
The initiative reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen inclusive co-operative development and promote sustainable socio-economic transformation through women’s participation in co-operative enterprises.
