The new leadership of the Moshi Co-operative University (MoCU) Student Government for the academic year 2026/2027 was officially sworn in during a ceremony held on July 03, 2026, at the J.K. Nyerere Hall, Moshi Main Campus.
The guest of honor at the event was the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Fredy Kilima, who swore in the leaders and urged them to execute their duties with integrity, accountability, and cooperation in order to enhance student welfare and the general development of the university.
Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Kilima stated that leadership is a trust that demands wisdom, ethics, and commitment to the best interests of all students. He emphasized that the leaders should maintain peace, solidarity, and good relations between the Student Government and the University Management, while strictly adhering to the principles of good governance, transparency, and accountability. He also advised them to be front-line leaders in guiding their fellow students to understand the university’s general admission, registration, and examination regulations.
The newly elected President of the MoCU Student Government, Mr. Zakayo Naure, on behalf of his sworn-in colleagues, promised to lead with integrity, transparency, and cooperation. He stressed that his government will prioritize student interests, listen to their opinions, and work closely with the University Management to find solutions to the various challenges they face.
For his part, the outgoing Student Government President, Mr. Agape Mdakule, thanked the MoCU students for the cooperation they extended to him throughout his tenure. He urged the new leaders to continue upholding unity, accountability, and constructive dialogue especially when advocating for student interests—emphasizing that the success of the student government depends heavily on close cooperation among the leaders, students, and the University Management.
The ceremony was attended by various leaders, staff members, and students who witnessed this historic event, which marks the official commencement of the Student Government’s leadership for the 2026/2027 term.
