The Mtwara Regional Cooperative Education Committee today, 6 October 2026, conducted a special training programme for Chairpersons, Managers, and Clerks of cooperative societies from Mtwara-Mikindani Municipal Council, Mtwara District Council, and Nanyamba Town Council as part of preparations for the 2026/27 cashew season.

The training brought together experts from Moshi Co-operative University (MoCU), the Tanzania Cooperative Development Commission (TCDC), the Cooperative Audit and Supervision Corporation (COASCO), Rotai Co. Ltd, the Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS), the Prevention and Combating of Corruption Bureau (PCCB), the Cashewnut Board of Tanzania (CBT), and other stakeholders. They delivered presentations on various aspects of the operation, management, and governance of cooperative societies.

The training was sponsored by MAMCU Ltd, the apex cooperative union, and aimed to enhance the capacity and effectiveness of cooperative leaders and staff in managing activities during the 2026/27 cashew season. It also seeks to further strengthen the performance of cooperative societies, increase benefits and productivity for members, and enhance the contribution of the cooperative sector to the development of the cashew industry.
