MOCU URGES NEW STUDENTS TO UPHOLD DISCIPLINE AND ADHERE TO UNIVERSITY ETHICS

The Deans of Faculties, Directors, and other leaders of Moshi Co-operative University (MoCU) have urged first-year students pursuing Certificate and Diploma programmes to observe and adhere to the University’s rules, regulations, and procedures both within and outside the campus. The call was made today during the first day of the students’ orientation programme, held at the Ushirika Grounds, Moshi Main Campus, as part of the University’s efforts to welcome and guide new students on campus life.

The University leaders urged students to avoid inappropriate behaviours that could negatively affect their academic performance and future prospects, including excessive alcohol consumption, gambling through sports betting, and the use of cannabis and other illicit drugs. They emphasised the importance of maintaining discipline and making responsible decisions guided by ethical values, personal safety, and their responsibilities as members of the University community.

Furthermore, the students were encouraged to prioritise their studies and remain focused on the objectives that brought them to the University. They were also advised to avoid joining undesirable groups that could influence them to engage in behaviours contrary to the University’s ethical standards and regulations. The leaders emphasised that academic commitment, effective time management, and personal responsibility are essential factors in achieving their academic goals.

Additionally, the University leaders advised students not to remain silent when facing challenges but instead to report them to the relevant departments or offices for appropriate guidance, support, and solutions. They stressed that making proper use of the University’s available support services is essential in promoting students’ welfare and enabling them to pursue their studies in a supportive, disciplined, and conducive learning environment.
