Moshi Co-operative University (MoCU) today held a strategic engagement meeting with a delegation from Wageningen University & Research (WUR), the Netherlands, led by Dr. Ir. Michel Riksen. The WUR delegation included Mr. Gerlo Borghuis, Dr. Ir. Karrar Mahdi, and Eng. A. L. Maro, while the MoCU team was represented by Dr. Mathias S. Nkuhi, Coordinator of the Internationalisation and Partnerships Office (IPO), Prof. Neema Kumburu, and Mr. Frank Mlangalanga. The meeting focused on strengthening the implementation of the existing partnership between the two institutions, enhancing coordination of ongoing joint activities, and identifying strategic opportunities for future cooperation.
During the discussions, both institutions reviewed their respective roles in advancing the current areas of engagement and explored possibilities for expanding the partnership into new thematic areas. Potential areas identified included joint research initiatives, knowledge exchange, staff and student mobility programmes, and other academic engagements aimed at promoting excellence in teaching, research, innovation, institutional learning, and internationalisation.
The meeting concluded with both institutions reaffirming their commitment to advancing the identified opportunities through appropriate institutional frameworks while maintaining sustained engagement towards the realisation of shared objectives. The discussions underscored the strong and growing relationship between MoCU and WUR and highlighted their mutual commitment to building a sustainable partnership that creates long-term academic, institutional, and societal impact.
