MoCU Coordinates Entrepreneurship Training for Cooperative Leaders

Description

The Moshi Co-operative University (MoCU) team is coordinating the Entrepreneurship Development Module under the Leadership for Change Programme, equipping cooperative leaders with the skills and mindset needed to transform cooperatives into dynamic and sustainable institutions.

The training focuses on enhancing participants’ creativity, innovation, and opportunity-seeking abilities while challenging the common misconception that entrepreneurship is limited to starting and managing businesses. Instead, the module presents entrepreneurship as a broader approach to identifying opportunities, solving problems, and creating value within communities and organizations.

Through interactive sessions, cooperative leaders are being introduced to concepts such as social entrepreneurship, which enables cooperatives to address social and community challenges while generating economic benefits. Participants are also gaining practical knowledge on innovation, resource mobilization, strategic thinking, and leadership for organizational growth.

According to Prof. Neema Kumburu, the module aims to strengthen the capacity of cooperative leaders to drive change, improve cooperative performance, and promote sustainable development. By applying entrepreneurial approaches, cooperatives can become more resilient, responsive to members’ needs, and better positioned to contribute to local economic development.

Participants have acknowledged and note that the knowledge and skills acquired will help them identify new opportunities, strengthen their organizations, and increase their impact within the communities they serve.
