MoCU RESPONDS TO COMMUNITY NEEDS, INTRODUCES EIGHT NEW PROGRAMS FOR THE 2026/2027 ADMISSION

Description

For the 2026/2027 academic year, higher education applicants will benefit from eight new programs introduced by the Moshi Co-operative University (MoCU).

Speaking to journalists today, July 14, 2026, at the Moshi Main Campus, the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Alban Mchopa, stated that MoCU has established these Bachelor’s degree programs to meet the needs of the community and the labor market by preparing human resources with skills that align with advancements in science and technology.

“This step reflects the implementation of the Tanzania National Development Vision 2050, which aims to build highly skilled human resources, alongside the execution of the MoCU Strategic Plan for 2026/27–2030/31. It is also an implementation of the Higher Education for Economic Transformation (HEET) project funded by the World Bank, which aims to strengthen the quality of higher education for economic transformation, and to improve learning and teaching infrastructure,” he said.

These programs are: “Bachelor of Co-operative Management with Agriculture”, “Bachelor of Business Administration with Information Systems”, “Bachelor of Science in Data Science”, “Bachelor of Science in Computer Science”, “Bachelor of Library and Information Science”, “Bachelor of Statistics and Analytics”, “Bachelor of Social Work”, as well as “Bachelor of Entrepreneurship and Enterprises Management”.

Elaborating on some of these programs, Prof. Mchopa pointed out that the “Bachelor of Co-operative Management with Agriculture” is offered jointly through a partnership between MoCU and Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) for a duration of three years. A student will study their first year at SUA, focusing on agricultural matters, and then spend the remaining two years at MoCU specializing in Cooperatives. This step will help produce Cooperative Officers with a broad understanding of agriculture so they can solve challenges in the community.

Speaking on the expectations for this year’s admission, Prof. Mchopa said MoCU expects to enroll approximately 5,420 new undergraduate and diploma students who will begin their studies at the Moshi Main Campus and the Kizumbi Campus located in the Shinyanga Region.
