Programme Overview

The Diploma in Co-operative Management & Accounting (DCMA) is a full-time, two-year programme designed to train students to address technical issues in co-operative management within local and national competitive business environments. Students in this programme are prepared to take up managerial, promotional, and accounting positions in co-operatives, community development organizations, government agencies, and non-governmental establishments. Graduates will become co-operative facilitators and accountants at an intermediate level, using their knowledge and skills to address local and regional professional requirements in the practices of co-operative enterprises.

Specific Objectives

The specific objectives are to:

• Equip students with the technical skills to address co-operative management issues in competitive business environments.
• Prepare graduates for managerial, promotional, and accounting roles in co-operatives, community development, government, and NGOs.
• Develop intermediate-level co-operative facilitators and accountants to meet local and regional professional requirements.
• Provide practical knowledge and skills to address the challenges of co-operative enterprises.
• Foster the ability to contribute to the growth and sustainability of co-operative organizations.

General Entry Requirements

• Direct Entry: NQF Level 5 (Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education) with at least one principal pass and one subsidiary in principal subjects.
• Equivalent Entry: UQF Level 4 and NTA Level 4 (Certificates) that are relevant to the programme. Applicants with UQF Level 4 and NTA Level 4 should have at least four passes in non-religious subjects at the Ordinary level (NQF Level 4), including English and Mathematics.
