Department of Co-operative Development and Management (DCDM) is the oldest academic department in our university. Its history dates far back as the history of the university. All other departments are rooted in this department. Being the oldest, we are an academic department with extensive experience in offering co-operative-related programmes in the East Africa Community. Our department offers various programmes from certificate to PhD level. The department has outstanding lecturers who are content experts and embrace the latest technology to impart knowledge and skills to the students. Apart from studying co-operative related courses, our students are exposed to soft skills that enable them to build their 21st century skills. Generally, we not only provide our students with excellent training but also, ensure their social and emotional intelligence is developed.

The DCDM enjoys strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to produce highly competitive graduates in the labour market.  We are proud that we produced personnel now employed by various national and international institutions including co-operative organizations, government and financial institutions, and NGOs.  Our graduates also can be self-employed. In addition, our department conducts research and provides advisory services.

We hope you will choose to study and work with our department to discover the best DCDM has to offer.

You are all welcome!

Apart from teaching our esteemed students, our department has a role in the community, particularly the local community to improve their services and promote co-operative sector. This is done through research, providing advisory services, and promoting innovations.
