Bachelor of Co-operative Management and Accounting (BCMA)

This degree programme is designed to produce Accountants and Auditors who are in high demand by the current co-operative sector. Students of the programme will have an opportunity to be imbued with both theoretical and analytical skills of relevant disciplines which in the end build the capacity of the students to identify, manage, and forecast current and future opportunities and challenges within the co-operative societies. In addition, the produced experts from this programme are expected to use their expertise to create and manage economically and socially viable co-operative organizations.

The duration of the programme is three years and is offered in full-time and evening modes. The entry requirements are as follows:

  • Direct entry: NQF Level 5 (Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education) with at least two principal passes with a total of 4 points from two subjects: Economics, Commerce, Accountancy, Advanced Mathematics, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Agriculture, Geography or Nutrition.
  • Equivalent entry: Relevant diploma with an average of “B’’ or a minimum GPA of 3.0 and Distinction for unclassified Diploma. OR Foundation Certificate of the Open University of Tanzania (OUT) with a minimum GPA of 3.0. In addition, applicants with UQF level 6 and NTA Level 6 (Diploma) should have at least four passes at the Ordinary level (NQF level 4) including English and Mathematics.
  • Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL): Applicants should have an average of a B+ grade in relevant courses.
