Regional offices

The University 13 regional offices carry out all extension and outreach services through field advisory services, consultancy, research as well as educating members, committee members and staff of the co-operative societies. They facilitate in promoting the University’s programmes and enrolment, teaching and handling of examinations for correspondence courses to students.

MoCU Coast Regional Office is located in Pwani Regional Commissioner’s building, third floor and its areas of operations include Coast, Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar.

Grace Thomas Mori holds MBA-Corporate Management from Mzumbe University (MU), a Bachelor of Arts in Co-operative Management and Accounting from Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) and a Professional Certificate in SACCOS Management from Moshi Co-operative University (MoCU). Currently, she is a lecturer and working as a Programme Coordinator in MoCU Pwani Regional Office serving Coast, Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar.

She is a co-operative and business management specialist with microfinance and business development skills. She has expertise in capacity building for different co-operative societies, microfinance institutions and other member-based organisations through training and advisory services. She has been involved in the preparation and reviewing of different operational documents in co-operatives including strategic and business plans, policies and by-laws. She is experienced in working with different projects and programs which promote member-based institutions geared towards social and economic development.


MoCU Dodoma Regional Office is located in Dodoma at K/Ndege Street 41115, 20 Chororo Road and its areas of operations include Dodoma and Morogoro.

Bahati Justine Rukiko, A Senior Programme Officer, holds a Master of Arts Degree in Co-operative and Community Development. He is an experienced Trainer and Consultant demonstrated over 19 years. His field of expertise and interests include Community Facilitation and Training, Strategic and Business Planning, Organization Capacity Development, Project Design and Management, Governance and Management of Housing   Co-operatives and Irrigator Organizations, Feasibility studies and Resource mobilization.

Mr. Rukiko has participated in collaborative actions and clients related programmes with different development organizations. These include; Frankfurt Zoological Society, Leonard Cheshire International (LCI), Aga Khan Foundation on the Enhancing Competitiveness of Smallholder Rice Farmers (ECSR) Project and Tanzania Beekeeping Development Organization (TABEDO).


Kigoma Regional office is located in Majengo Area – Kigoma-Ujiji. Kigoma office operates in Kigoma region. The regional office has a vast experience of working with local and international organizations.

Johnson James Kimambo holds MSc. Research Methods from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) and Bachelor of Arts in Co-operative Management and Accounting from Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA). Currently, Mr. Kimambo is an Assistant Lecturer working as Programme Coordinator in MoCU Kigoma Regional Office serving Kigoma region. Mr. Kimambo has over 10 years` experience in cooperative development. He has done number of assignments related to AgriBusiness, Agricultural Marketing Co-operative Societies (AMCOS), Producers Organizations (POs), Community Based Microfinance such as VICOBA, SACCOS. He has assisted farmers in promotion, formation, strengthening and evaluating various forms of self-help groups and rural member-based producer organizations. He has further, participated in developing and strengthening grassroots organizations in Tanzania. He has vast experience working with national and international organization in field training, teaching, consultancy and research including Canadian Co-operative Association (CCA), International Labour Organization (ILO), International Development Research Centre (IDRC), Farm Concern, Lutheran World Relief (LWR), World Vision, Tanzania Private Sector Foundation (TPSF), Oiko Credit, VECO and AVRDC – The World Vegetable Centre.

Mr Godwin Katemi Majahasi is an Assistant Lecturer at Moshi Co-operative University (MoCU) in the department of Banking, Accounting and Finance.  He is an experienced Trainer and Consultant demonstrated over seven (7) years. He holds Master’s Degree in Business Administration with Finance, Certified Professional Banker (CPB) and Certified Specialist Banker      Certificate.

He is serving as a Regional Programme Coordinator for two Regions Iringa and Njombe since July 2015 up to date. Before coming to MoCU, he had seven (7) years’ experience in private sector whereby he worked at National Bank of Commerce as a Bank Operations Officer from year 2007 up to 2011, then he moved to Mkombozi Commercial Bank working as Bank Operations Officer from 2012 up to 2014. Mr. Godwin K. Majahasi is a specialist in areas of  Banking, Investment Management, Microfinance, Agricultural Value Chain Financing, Credit Risk Modelling, Co-operative development and management, Project planning and management, Business and Strategic planning for co-operatives, Governance and leadership, Innovation Management, Impact Evaluation of development interventions, Collective entrepreneurship, Organizational capacity assessment (OCA), Co-operative-Financial Management, Group Dynamics and Management. He has also vast field experience engaging much in providing training, executing consultancies and offering advisory and community services to co-operatives and other local based organizations, NGOs and public institutions based on his areas of competence.

Aurelia I. Mbwaga is a dedicated professional with a strong academic background and extensive experience in the fields of agricultural economics, business economics, and cooperative management. She holds a Master of Science (MSc.) degree in Agricultural and Applied Economics from Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) in Morogoro, Tanzania completed in 2022. Prior to her postgraduate studies, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Economics from Moshi Co-operative University (MoCU) in Kilimanjaro, Tanzania completed in 2016, and a Diploma in Cooperative Management and Accounting from Moshi University College of Co-operative and Business Studies (MuCCoBS) completed in 2012.

Aurelia has actively pursued professional development through various training programs, including Qualitative Research Methods in October 2022, a Business Development Cycle seminar in September 2017, and participation in diverse research methodology workshops between 2016 and 2022. Her career commenced at Moshi Co-operative University, where she has been an integral part of the Department of Economics and Statistics since 2017. Initially serving as a Tutorial Assistant, Aurelia was involved in supervising tutorials, seminars, and lesson preparations until 2022. Subsequently, she transitioned into the role of Assistant Lecturer, contributing to research, teaching, consultancy, and publications in the field of Agribusiness and Business Economics. Additionally, Aurelia has taken on leadership responsibilities as the Regional Program Coordinator, overseeing activities in various Co-operative societies and organizing community-based groups in Kilimanjaro, Arusha, and Tanga regions since 2022. Her research contributions include a study on the Economics of Fodder Production at ASAS Farm Ltd, involving data analysis, report writing, and subsequent publication. As a dedicated Facilitator/Trainer, she has actively engaged with the Maasai in Arusha and Longido, imparting knowledge on business cycle development and effective marketing strategies for aspiring entrepreneurs. Aurelia’s multifaceted expertise showcases her commitment to academic excellence, research, and community development in the agricultural sector.


Mbeya Regional Office formerly Mbeya Wing /Mbeya Centre was established in 1972 working in three regions of Mbeya, Rukwa and Iringa. It is located in Mbeya City, Old Forest area near the High Court of Tanzania and Regional Police Commander’s Office (RPC-Mbeya). The office serves Mbeya, Rukwa and Songwe Regions.

Davis Owen Binamu is an Assistant Lecturer in Business Management – Marketing at Moshi Co-operative University (MoCU) with eight years of expertise teaching both non-degree and bachelor students. He is currently assigned as a Programme Coordinator in Mbeya, where he manages multiple programs in the Mbeya, Songwe, and Rukwa regions. He is in charge of empowering cooperatives and other member-based organizations through training, consulting, and outreach services. Previously, Davis worked at Mzinga Corporation in the capacity of Senior Sales and Marketing Officer.

By focusing on the University motto “Ushirika ni Biashara”, Davis has been able to influence cooperative board members to manage the cooperatives in a manner that they would render services sustainably and improve members’ economic status. Davis’ talents at MoCU have earned him a reputation as one of the greatest cooperative trainers in the southern highlands. Davis chooses to spend the majority of his working hours visiting cooperatives for coaching and training.


Mtwara wing and the now Mtwara Regional Office was established in 1968 and serve Mtwara and Lindi regions.

Mr. Paulo Anania is the Assistant Lecturer, Researcher and Consultant at MoCU under the Department of Co-operative Development and Management (CDM). He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Community Economic Development from Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) and a Master of Arts in Co-operative and Community Development (MA-CCD) from MoCU. He previously worked as a Tutorial Assistant at Teofilo Kisanji University (TEKU)-Tabora Teaching Centre in 2013 then joined Moshi Co-operative University (MoCU) in January 2014. His key duties include training, research, consultancy and offering community services.

He has executed numerous trainings, community services and consultancy works in co-operatives, NGOs and public organizations and contributed many scholarly works including publications in local and international journals and conference proceedings. Some of his works are available in Google Scholar and Research Gate through the username “Paulo Anania”. His main areas of competency include; Co-operative development and management; Development Studies; Community economic development (CED); Community resource management; Participatory development planning; Gender and Youth in co-operatives; Business and Strategic Planning; Leadership and governance of member-based organizations; Co-operative entrepreneurship; Research methodology; Organizational capacity assessment (OCA); Electronic resources access and management; Stakeholders’ mapping and analysis; Value chain mapping and analysis; Market systems and stakeholders’ relations; Management of farmers organizations; Farmers profiling; Farmers’ financial literacy and agri-financing; Managing entrepreneurship centres in higher learning institutions; Youth entrepreneurship in agriculture and food systems; and Sustainable investments in agriculture. He has been in University leadership for three years as Head of the Department for Extension and Outreach Programmes from 2018 to 2020. He also chaired different Task forces within the University to execute various activities. Since April 2020 he has been working as Regional Programme Coordinator (RePCO) of the Mtwara Regional Office which serves the Mtwara and Lindi regions in Tanzania. He has also participated in various academic and non-academic roles within and outside the University.


Mwanza regional office is based in Mwanza was officially established in 1978 and serves Mwanza, Geita and Kagera regions.

Mr. Justine Ruttajama Joseph is an Assistant lecturer at Moshi Cooperative University (MoCU), under Business Management department whilst facilitating management and planning related courses like Project Identification and Implementation, Principles of Project Management and Participatory Community Development Strategies. Mr Justine R Joseph holds a master’s degree in education management and planning from the Saint Augustine University of Tanzania (SAUT), a Postgraduate Diploma in Project Planning and Management from the Institute of Rural and Urban Development Planning (IRDP), and a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Dodoma (UDOM). His area of interests includes but not limited to the following; curriculum development/assessment, education management, project planning, management, monitoring, evaluation and learning.

Mr Justine R Joseph has been involved in various consultancy assignments and community services projects with cooperative societies including preparation of strategic plans, business plans, policies, By-Laws and conducting trainings on cooperative education. From November, 2022 to date Mr Justine R Joseph is serving as a Regional Programme Coordinator (REPCO) for Kagera, Geita and Mwanza regions.


Ruvuma Regional office (RRO) is located in Songea Municipality, along Njombe Road, near CRDB Bank PLC Songea Branch. It operates in all councils of Ruvuma region.

Evaristo Benitho Mwamhanga serves as Regional Programme Coordinator at MoCU Ruvuma Regional Office. He holds a Master Degree of Science in Environmental Management; Post Graduate Diploma in Environmental Planning and Advanced Diploma in Community Development (based in Project Planning and Management).

In a professional career spanning over 10 years, he has earned a reputation for working with private and public organizations. As a professional trainer, he has conducted over 150 capacity building programmes to Non-Government Organizations (NGOs), Companies, Government and Cooperative Societies. His current areas of professional interests are training, research, consultancy, community services, socio-economic and environment impact assessment.

Mr Deogratias B. Aikaruwa is an Assistant Lecturer at MoCU, working in the Department of Business and Management at KICoB. He holds a Master of Arts in Co-operative and Community Development and a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and Finance both from the Moshi Co-operative University.
He is now serving as Regional program co-ordinator of the Shinyanga regional office. Prior to this position, he has been serving as Residential Program Coordinator of the then Kizumbi Teaching Centre since 2012. He has been involved in teaching and diverse of research and consultancy projects as consultant, trainer, researcher and facilitator.
Deogratias has accumulated over 10 years’ experience in consultancy and community services in Co-operatives, Governmental and Non- governmental organizations, public and private organizations, community organizations and groups, business enterprises, microfinance Institutions and the general community. He has been involved in consultancies and technical facilitation in the areas of co-operative and community development, organizational development, microfinance management, entrepreneurship, business development, monitoring and evaluations, strategic and business plan development. Mr. Japhet M. Mgema is a Lecturer, Researcher, and Consultant at MoCU under the Department of Banking, Accounting, and Finance. Involved in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Mr. Japhet holds a MSc. in Finance and Investment from the Institute of Finance Management and a Bachelor of Co-operative Management and Accounting from the Sokoine University of Agriculture. He also works for the department of extension and outreach programs under the Institute of Continuing Co-operative Education (ICCE), serving as a Regional Programme Coordinator for Singida and Manyara Regions since December 2019 to date. Prior, served as a coordinator for the Professional Financial Cooperative Management Programme (PFCMP) since February 2018 to November 2019. Mr. Matogoro N. Mayalla is a Lecturer at MoCU under the Department of Banking, Accounting, and Finance since 2006. Mr. Abel R. Ngowi holds the Degree of Master of Business Administration (Agribusiness) and Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Education and Extension from the Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA). He also holds a Professional Certificate in Savings and Credit Cooperative Societies Management (PC-SACCOS Management) from the MoCU.  Currently, he is an Assistant Lecturer and Regional Program Coordinator serving at Tanga Regional Office of the Moshi Co-operative University. Prior to joining MoCU he was an Agricultural Tutor at the then Livestock Training Agency Mpwapwa Campus (LITA – Mpwapwa Campus). He also served as Area Agriculture Coordinator at BRAC Tanzania. He has researched, published, trained and conducted consultancies is community economic development, cooperation and rural development, agricultural extension, rural entrepreneurship, cooperative business management, agribusiness and sustainable agriculture and in business planning and strategic management.
