This department is responsible for the effective management of knowledge, as a strategic asset, to further the organisation’s objectives.
Functions
- Create and/or improve technical infrastructures for developing new products and services;
- Conduct information literacy training to enhance knowledge sharing;
- Develop and coordinate knowledge management platforms for information-sharing services as the culture of the university’s environment;
- Acquire library materials and make sure that the collection is relevant, usable, up to date, and stored in the correct place;
- Processing acquired resources;
- Monitoring and administering the use of the available knowledge base (library collection, institutional repository and subscribed e-resources), and report statistics such as the number of readers, the number of authors, and the frequency of downloads;
- Develop and coordinate knowledge management framework and plan;
- Providing administrative and technical support in the application of the ICT facilities for accessing and sharing of knowledge;
- Coordinate academic programmes under the directorate;
- Prepare library learning and research agenda;
- Builds staff capacity to implement and lead knowledge management programs;
- Negotiating electronic resources license agreements with providers and publishers on behalf of the University;
- Keep records of all acquired information materials; and
- Liaise with heads of all academic departments and other library users in the identification of required information materials.
