The Department of Microfinance and Banking (DMB) is one of the seven departments under the Faculty of Business and Information Sciences (FBIS) of the Moshi Co-operative University (MoCU). The Department has three undergraduate programmes namely Certificate in Microfinance Management (CMF), Diploma in Microfinance Management (DMFM) and Bachelor of Microfinance and Enterprise Management (BMFED).  The department also has a Post Graduate Diploma in Savings and Credit Co-operative Societies Management (PGD-SACCOS). The department offer teaching services to various courses offered by other programmes across the University. The department also provides the best training in microfinance, banking, and enterprise development services by keeping up with the most recent global developments in these areas to remain the preferred partner for developing the practitioners in the financial and business sectors. The Department of Microfinance and Banking (DMB) is one of the seven departments under the Faculty of Business and Information Sciences (FBIS) of the Moshi Co-operative University (MoCU). The Department has three undergraduate programmes namely Certificate in Microfinance Management (CMF), Diploma in Microfinance Management (DMFM) and Bachelor of Microfinance and Enterprise Management (BMFED).  The department also has a Post Graduate Diploma in Savings and Credit Co-operative Societies Management (PGD-SACCOS).

The department has 12 permanent academic staff. One (1) of the academic staff is Associate Professor, three (3) are Senior Lecturers, three (3) are Lecturers and five (5) are Assistant Lecturers. All these members of staff are highly qualified and experienced in various specialized fields, which include microfinance management, banking operations, financial institutions and markets, insurance, social protection, research methods, agriculture value chain financing, treasury management, savings and credit co-operative societies management, business planning, financial modelling, and enterprise development. The department teaches 55 courses every year, which are offered to across the University. Also, academic members of staff are involved in supervising students from undergraduate, master to PhD level. Besides teaching and supervising students, they are involved in conducting research in several areas including microfinance, banking, and co-operatives. The department also provides consultancy services to financial and non-financial co-operative institutions, government departments, Non-Government Organisations, and private institutions
